Bhodi Tree Book Store
October 4, 2002

Last week I took  trip down Melrose to visit the Bodhi Tree Bookstore.  I've often passed it, but have never actually gone in.  Next to the entrance of the book store there is a big statue of an angel, it's a world angel and I got the impression that there are probably others around the city.  The used book store part has a lot of books on just about every topic you could think of.  There are a lot of books on spiritualism, magic, astrology, religion, and new age.  I spent some time looking through the books and then proceeded to go to the New Book Shop.
I really really enjoyed the new book shop.  It was full of different Icons, Talismans, Inscense, Tarot cards, crystals, and ingredients for majic spells potions, oils, candels and just about anything you could think of.  I've been instrested in what is refered to as "New Age" for several years now.  When I'm in the area I plan on stopping by more often now.
Every religion and world of thought are represented in the books on the shelves.  There are books on history, science fiction, autobiographies, and even art.  What I liked most about this book store was the fact on the wide variety of specialized books that were there.  Often time if you go to Borders or Barnes and Nobel you can find a few books on s piritual topic, but not the wide array that are available in this book store.
I went into the book store and was surprised by the number of people looking through the shelves.  There were young and old people there.  People were looking for love spells, and things to help them on their journey towards success.  One thing I really liked was that there were childrens books that purpose was to teach children about different religions.  Maybe if we dedicated a small portion of elementery education to world religions, then we would have a better well rounded education.  I know there is the seperation between church and state but if all religions were treated as a means to study history or litriture and put aside the philisophical stand point until college then we will be giving our children a head start on life.
